SFC is a non-profit organization offering programs and services designed to help integrate newcomers into the Canadian workplace.  It connects thousands of newcomers with employers across the Greater Toronto Area annually.

Program: SFC piloted a new government funded program called Skills Link. This 12-week program is for youth, 15-30, which offers on-the-job coaching, mentoring, customized training, and employability skill building. The program featured four workshops:

  • Prelude
  • St. Stephen’s Community House Conflict Resolution
  • Findhelp’s Communication, Information & Referral
  • Workplace Inclusion Skills for Change

The largely positive response from Skills Link participants suggest they have understood and internalized Prelude’s learning game goals.

Quote: I was very touched by this group’s humanity. They really seem to want to do something in the world. One participant told me afterwards that she’d been through many workshops none of which she understood. When I asked about if she understood Prelude’s values she lit up and replied ‘Yes!’ – Vibeke Ball, Facilitator
