World Appreciative Inquiry Conference

November 18, 2009

Heliotrope presented a Prelude online workshop at the Ninth International Appreciative Inquiry Conference earlier today. Appreciative Inquiry is a collaborative and highly participative, system-wide approach to organizational transformation. Dr. David Cooperider and his colleagues first developed AI at Case Western University. The game was well received by practitioners from around the world who participated in the workshop. There was consensus that Prelude uniquely compliments the core principals of AI practice as the following table outlines. The game is essentially a heliotropic effect generator. It certainly embodies Dr. Cooperider’s cogent observation that  “The artful creation of positive imagery on a collective basis may well be the most prolific activity that individuals and organizations can engage in if their aim is to help bring to fruition a positive and humanly significant future”. Several fruitful contacts were made. Our goal now is to explore how can Prelude be practically integrated into Appreciative Inquiry practice.
