Northern Lakes College serves 30 communities in north central Alberta. The majority of its students are Aboriginal. It offers a wide array of academic upgrading, bachelor degree, career and trades training, certificate, diploma, and university transfer programs.

Program: Life Skills Program
Description: In October 2009, Prelude was introduced to first year college students as part of the Life Skills Program. This is offered in three widely dispersed satellite campuses, High Level, Gift Lake and Cadotte Lake. The 3-month program is designed to foster problem-solving skills and self esteem through structured experiential learning. Throughout, students identify personal values, strengths and growth potential. The goal was for both local coaches and students to play Prelude. About 120 individuals participated overall. J.D. Szezepaniak, a Life Skills Coach and Readiness Coordinator facilitated Prelude in the satellite campuses.
