Association of Canadian Community Colleges
November 15, 2003
The Association of Canadian Community Colleges (ACCC) is the national, voluntary membership organization created in 1972 to represent colleges and institutes to government, business and industry, both in Canada and internationally.
Website: Association of Canadian Community Colleges
Location: Ottawa Head Office
Program: Staff Development
Description: In November 2003, ACCC asked H.B. Esbin to lead a workshop for staff development focused on cooperation and networking. On an experimental basis, Esbin then introduced the Art Arena Model, which is a forerunner of what’s became the Prelude learning game. This was the only the second time in 18 years that Esbin had tried this model. While not without its challenges, the experience was sufficiently positive to encourage further work. For example, the Ottawa Community Loan Fund provided seed capital to Dr. Esbin to develop his game prototype further.
